She's Gone Country…

Written by: Kaitlin Marshall

Kentucky is the famous bluegrass state, known for its thoroughbred horses and bourbon distilleries. With beautiful lakes, vineyards, and farms, choosing an outdoor wedding for Kentucky is nothing out of the ordinary. By incorporating vintage country touches to the ceremony and reception, you will leave your guests feeling refreshed and a little more country themselves.

Country weddings have developed into more than just the cliché cowboy boots and jeans. Rustic country weddings today are accessorized with long, flowing gowns, oversized fresh flower bouquets, decorative mason jars, and twine yarn ball lanterns.

Many brides have relied on the help of a little friend we like to call “Pinterest.” One of the greatest wedding innovators of our time, this website is filled with pictures of great outdoor weddings for others to view. You can’t help but to drool over the endless possibilities that you see and create a wedding of your own just from pictures. We’ve even started our own inspiration wedding boards (Cardinal and Straw) so be sure to take a look for some inspiration for Kentucky Bluegrass Weddings.

With so many DIY blogs out there, its easy to see how planning on a budget can become a reality. Imagine your favorite pictures and table number place-cards dancing in the breeze as they hang from wooden pins on a line between trees. Can you see yourself gliding down the aisle in a cotton eyelet gown? Emphasize the outdoors with soft pinks, greens, and whites. Add mason jars to your centerpiece overflowing with sunflowers and others with green split peas that encase candles. Planning a mid-summer evening ceremony and reception? Keep your guests cool with our lovely paddle fan programs. Fancy them up with sheer white ribbon or burlap fabric. Want your guests to take home a personalized favor? Satisfy their sweet tooth with a family recipe for homemade peach preservatives. We will print the labels for you to adhere to each mason jar filled with goodies. Substitute mason jars for glasses to serve fresh iced tea and lemonade. And for those legal, you certainly can not forget about the smooth Kentucky Bourbon; incorporate this in Bourbon Pie or memorable favors for the Groomsman.

All of this vintage country themed decor starts from the inspiration found in your invitation. Some of our brides had all of these same rustic ideas too. See a few of the beautiful country-themed invitations we dreamed up with these brides…
