Save the Dates

Have you set the date but don’t know where to start? Let us help you customize an unforgettable Save the Date for your big day!

Since Save the Dates have not always been a traditional part of the wedding planning process, the rules and etiquette are not set in stone. This fun and easy keepsake allows the guests ample time for them to ask off work, plan travel time, and save some spending money (especially for those couples who are planning destination weddings)!

Couples should keep in mind that these friendly reminders do not have to be as formal as the invitation that will follow. The Save the Date is a great chance for newly engaged couples to showcase their style and creativity!

Some trends for the New Year…

Couples are thinking outside of the box when it comes to their Save the Dates. One of the most popular trends we have seen lately is magnets. At Cardinal and Straw, we love this idea. Get yours soon and receive our special price on magnets! ALL magnets are only $1 per custom designed magnet and envelope! Include as many photos and colors as you like for the same price. See some of our favorite Save the Dates below!

Another popular choice for our brides has been our Postcard Save the Dates. With these engaging cards, you can opt for a more modern and stylish appeal, or simply create a classic look. The choice is up to you! Printed in full color, this design is not only easy on the eyes, but the budget as well. Our postcards are printed with the mailing addresses right on the other side, so no envelope is needed! With less postage costs, our postcards are an economical choice for those couples trying to save paper and money!

Are you looking for a more traditional and classic way to let your guests know your date? Try one of our more formal Save the Date designs. Since we do all the design and printing in our own office, let us customize the colors and graphics that you want! We also offer Thermography and Letterpress printing!

Etiquette…

During the design process, it is important not to forget etiquette. Make sure that your design really sets the tone for your wedding. You want it to be memorable, yet not over the top. There are also many questions up in the air about what to include, who to send them to, and when to send them out. Feel free to ask us about your concerns!

 A few things to remember…

It is common courtesy that a Save the Date should be sent out about 4-6 months prior to wedding date. If you are choosing to do a destination wedding, don’t worry! Just make sure to give your guests a little more time to plan by sending them out up to 8 months in advance.

Also, unlike the formal invitation that follows, where you write out the date, (i.e. “on saturday, the fifth day of june…”) it is completely acceptable to simply put June 5, 2012 or 06.05.12.

When it comes to Save the Dates, most couples wish to keep it simple. You may not have all the formal details figured out yet, so just include the basics when choosing your words! For example, make sure you include both names of the couple, the date of the wedding, and you may choose to include the location if you wish. Some couples also prefer to include a short phrase like “Formal Invitation to Follow,” as a friendly reminder that more details are coming. A good alternative to a jam-packed Save the Date is to include your wedding website at the bottom where your guests can find all your information and updates.

Now that you know the basics, it’s time for the fun part – designing your own custom Save the Dates! Call us today to set up your appointment!
